ok, so i didn't finish my nyc pics. they STILL have yet to be uploaded. you choose:
1. i'm a slacka
2. i'm insanely busy
3. a little bit of both
alas, i must move on to our next trip. justin and i had a fabulous weekend in the adirondacks with our good friends chris and heather. there is something so divine and marvelous about the adirondacks. we once met a trucker who said he's been everywhere in the country and concluded the adirondacks are the best, in his words "God's country." as justin and i lay on a rock as big as our queen size bed looking up at the night sky filled with twinkling stars listening to loons call, that very thought crossed my mind, this is God's country.
"You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you." Nehemiah 9:6

on my life to do list is to become a 46er. [46er = one who hikes the 46 high peaks of the adirondacks]. this past weekend, we hiked our first 2 high peaks! it was totally rad awesome. i loved it. it poured for much of our hike, but that is so way better than heat and humidity. a recap of our trip...

packed and ready to go!

most important stop of the trip: inlet bakery for maple frosted donut. mmm.

the crew...on our rock at site 28, lake durant.

dinner: veggie burger with mac & cheese. heck yes.

breakfast: camp coffee, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon [for the carnivores]

master chef bacon cooker.

at cascade...look how nice & dry i am.

dripping, but still smiling.

team rotm on the trail.

the trail.

my favorite person in the world.

i think i can, i think i can. [i did] superwoman...

or mountainwoman.

we made it! cascade being pelted by rain.

cascade mountain summit. simply love this picture!

porter mountain summit.

looking a bit ragged, but we made it!

heather's peanut butter bars. VERY important part of the trip. right chris?

you can dress me up, but you can't take me out. right after the hike we did a quick change in a gas station bathroom for dinner. so classy.

kayaking at sunset on lake durant.

chris and heather...couldn't have asked for better company.
love you guys.

more great pics here.

so i've not yet uploaded the rest of my nyc pics [i promise i will], but i have something even better: sweet linco pics. uncle jo jo and auntie marmo babysat linc and cai. before the boys arrived, i had started making dinner and justin came in and said, 'you better hurry & finish dinner, it's gonna be chaos when the boys get here.' i found this quite entertaining and reminded him that lots of people [including mike & mand] have this chaos EVERY DAY. ha! are we spoiled, or what.

love, love, love this little man.

new yor highlights part I.

i only have SOME of my pictures on my computer. so i will do parts. [we lost power, so i'm a day behind]. here are some trip highlights, part I:

the travellers. via prius.
love my mooms and pops.

bergen bagels. w/ homemade scallion cream cheese. mmm.
[side note for western ny'ers - pronounced burg-en in nyc. poor confused city folk.]

it was so dang hot saturday.
i think this is a picture of us melting.

prospect park. 585 acres in brooklyn. who knew?!

couldn't have said it better myself...

luckily craig heard about the renegade craft fair! and introduced me to a little piece of heaven. TONS of handmade goodness. however, God knew of the coveting that was taking place...

and He sent us running with a H.U.G.E. thunderstorm.
notice the tent toppling over the others.

we didn't really have anywhere to go, and we all agreed this was the LOUDEST thunder ever, ever, ever. we were crammed in a little nook with 4 other storm refugees. we watched as lightening struck nearby skyscrapers.
my biggest phobia: sudden loud noises. no joke.
i think i plugged my ears for 20 min. straight.

but not before i bought a sa-weet new shirt!
just love the polk a dot bear!

the wet crew found refuge at sea. justin's fav thai restaurant.

i bought some toms shoes. :)
i wore these brand spankin new, out of the box, for 3 days and didn't get a blister.
[in nyc 3 days = approximately 432 miles]
and a child in need got a pair of shoes.

ok. i must go to bed.
part II pictures to follow...

leader of the pack.

i am mrs. overpacker. as i scan over the contents of my closet, i see more and more and more that i just maybe perhaps could possibly need. before i know it my suitcase is overflowing to the point it needs to be sat upon in order to be zipped. but it's all in there. the what-if-it-rains outfit [elfit - craigy ;) ], the what-if-it's-super-hot outfit, the what-if-i-feel-super-fat outfit. it's all there. so what if i only end up wearing a quarter of what i packed. IF i had NEEDED it, i had it. for example: i am currently at a conference for one of my gazillion jobs. a day and a half total. i came prepared with 4 outfits. when i saw mooms suitcase, i had to laugh because i literally think it is SMALLER than my PURSE. see for yourself...

maybe someday i'll pack like mooms....i'm working on it.

the pierces love to party. justin's birthday starts a birthday marathon for the fam, which results in one party after another.

add in 3 jobs and extended family parties...doesn't leave much time for blogging.

most recent partay....happy birthday mike!
grilled shish kabobs!

pasta salad with black olives just for mike.

mand's fancy apple pie.

mmm...breakups, our new 'it' dessert!

the birthday boy.

my twinny.
we decided cai looks just like auntie marmo when i was a babe.
linc confirmed it when we showed him my baby picture & asked him who it was - 'malacai!', he exclaimed.

linc lined his trucks up.
so cute.
