sometimes i'm a restless subject...

i did a little jumping...

a little marching...

i wore the sun on my head...

i kissed the photographer. he's hot.

looking forward to some real spring weather...
it's suppose to be 70 tomorrow.
[there was a chance of snow last night.]

nz: part III

WHAT an amazing day! we hired a farmer friend to fly us over to the west coast. which saved us approximately 10 hours of driving. we took off in his sheep pasture.

right away i knew this was a great idea.
seeing nz from above? yes please.

the views were absolutely breathtaking.

flying over mammoth glaciers and turquoise glacial lakes.

flying over the southern alps.

we landed at an itty bitty airport in fox glacier. after we landed arch [our pilot] told us it was a one way runway. no chance at pulling back up if you don't make your landing. glad he told us that after we landed. the glacial silt is amazingly smooth. i kinda wanted to roll around in it.

it was a beautiful day. some serious clouds rolled in, but they hung onto the mountains.

fox glacier is about 7.5 miles long and ends in a rain forest. crazy, huh?
my hair was basically outta control the entire trip. see how nice & poofy it is...

as we were walking away we heard a huge crack. i was a bit disappointed i didn't get to see the action.

we flew right by mount cook, nz's tallest mountain.

12,316 feet.

we flew over braided rivers & saw them flowing all the way to the ocean.

arch showed us his holiday home. it's on the end by the red roof.

the colors were absolutely stunning.

as if our day wasn't spectacular enough, we stopped at this amazing thrift store. unfortunately whatever i bought had to fit in my [already stuffed] suitcase. i must show you close ups of my goods. [i'll tell my photographer.]

a white picket fence. a cute little bike. boysenberry ice cream.
aahhh new zealand.

nz: part II

i've been a bit slow with the updates, but it took awhile to get back into the time zone of this northern hemisphere. after many nights of sleeping a mere 5-6 hours [totally unacceptable in my book] i slept from 10pm to 10am [my kinda sleep!]... aaaand i'm back.

a tramp.
we did a little tramp [hike] in the peel forest to acland falls.
ruby came along, but don't tell [no dogs allowed apparently.]
of course we made a pit-stop for some boysenberry ice cream. yummy.

a cartwheel mate!
i had so much fun with jenna.

a sheep pasture.
sometimes you just got to park and run up the hill and take in the views. i thought i heard a cow, but it was just an old-man-sheep coughing.

a view.
it was totally worth the stop.
the amazing views are everywhere you turn in nz.
click on this picture and look at the perfectly straight line the sheeps made! all single file and orderly.

a fashion show.
i got to be jenna's personal assistant. she's a super hot model.
it was so fun to attend the fashion show and just listen to everyone talk.
just another nz day...

nz: part I

a warm farewell...

l.a. sunset.
that guy on the right is my travel buddy.
he stops lots for photos.
but it's totally worth it. cause i get pictures like this.

a warm meal...

ginger beer!
on the airplane!
also a warm drink with every meal... coffee, tea, cadbury hot chocolate.

a warm drink...

as soon as we set foot in nz, we set out for a flat white.
28 hours of travel.
5 airplanes.
so worth it.

a warm welcome...

when we arrived at the airport i pointed out all the 'skater boys' to j. turns out the skater boys were filming a skateboard video & as we walked out with the skater boys we were met with a very warm welcome...the haka by some local students! we know tom & jenna actually arranged this for us, thanks guys - you rock!
there was also a warm welcome in our bedroom.
candy bars & bright flowers.
what more could a girl ask for?

a warm curry...

a warm day...

we had sunshine.
it was glorious.
made me jump for joy.
or maybe that was just because i was in new zzzealand.
that guy on the right was a neighbor.

a warm beach...

beautiful, perfectly round, smooth rocks.
as far as the eye can see.
blue skies.
turquoise water.
tree pose.

a warm evening...

fishing at morgan & hayley's.
hundreds of cows.
back 'home' for some homemade mexican with the matthews.
and hokey pokey ice cream.
and tim tams.

it's 2:28am.
i should be sleepy.
but really it's only 8:28pm.
in nz.
off to pretend i'm sleepy...
